1st LTTA in Netherlands The Ideals Erasmus+

1st LTT in Netherlands The Ideals Erasmus+ LTTA1 program offered an engaging week of activities and learning experiences for students from across Europe. Here’s a summary of the highlights from each day.

Day 1: Brussels – exploring the heart of the EU
The program began with an educational visit to the European Commission and Parliament. Participants had the chance to learn about EU policies and legislative processes, gaining valuable insights into European governance. The day ended with a cultural walking tour and dinner at the Grand Place in Brussels.

Day 2: Connect College – workshops and cultural exploration
At Connect College, students attended workshops led by European Commission speakers, discussing EU legislation and learning about the Dutch educational system. The afternoon featured a scavenger hunt in Maastricht, allowing students to explore the city’s historical landmarks.

Day 3: embracing global perspectives and health
The third day continued with a workshop by Global Exploration focused on sustainable development goals (SDGs), followed by sports activities to encourage a healthy lifestyle. This day provided a balanced mix of intellectual and physical engagement for participants.

Day 4: applying knowledge and team building
Students worked in project groups, applying the knowledge gained during the week. The day included more sports activities, promoting teamwork and supporting a healthy lifestyle.

Day 5: final presentations and farewell
The week concluded with student presentations, reflecting on their learnings and experiences. Certificates were awarded to recognize their achievements, ending with a farewell gathering to celebrate their journey and new friendships.

2nd LTTA in San Benedetto del Tronto, ITALY
Dates: 03.06-07.06.2025

Day 1 – Welcome and Opening Workshop
The day began with a welcome session at Liceo Scientifico Rosetti, where participants were introduced to the school and its staff. Following this, the group moved to the City Council Hall, where they were officially greeted by Mayor Antonio Spazzafumo and the City Secretary. The mayor extended his invitation to all guests to return and explore the city further.
After a short coffee break, the first workshop titled “Speak Up for Change” was conducted. Students worked in international groups to design basic advocacy campaign ideas focused on democracy, human rights, or climate change. They engaged in brainstorming, communication exercises, and initial planning activities.

Day 2 – Scientific Awareness and Marine Protection
The second day was held entirely at the San Benedetto branch of the University of Camerino, Biosciences Department. The morning session included a lecture on microplastic pollution, its impact on the marine environment, and implications for human health.
Students then created short awareness videos, styled for TikTok, to communicate the issue. In the afternoon, students conducted fieldwork by collecting water and sand samples from the nearby beach. Back in the laboratory, they examined the samples under a microscope, identifying visible microplastic particles. The workshop was led by Dr. Martina Capriotti, a researcher at UNICAM.

Day 3 – Cultural and Civic Exploration in Ascoli Piceno
Participants visited the city of Ascoli Piceno. The program included a guided tour of the Pinacoteca Civica, showcasing works by Crivelli and Tiziano. The group then explored Piazza del Popolo and visited Palazzo dei Capitani, where they received a historical overview of the city’s civic institutions.
Before lunch, the group visited the Teatro Ventidio Basso, a 19th-century opera house. In the afternoon, visits continued with a stop at the Palazzo della Provincia, including the Council Hall, and concluded with a tour of the historical Cartiera Papale, a former paper mill now serving as a museum.

Day 4 – Empathy and Democratic Engagement
The day began with the workshop;In My Shoes – Exploring Life Through Empathy. Activities included personal storytelling, role-play, and reflections on inclusion, diversity, and emotional understanding.
At 11:00, participants attended the end-of-year school celebration held at the nearby sports hall.
In the afternoon, students took part in the “Map of Challenges” workshop, where they reflected on barriers to youth participation in democratic life. They worked in groups to design visual representations (maps and posters) proposing solutions. Italian students supported international participants as peer tutors.

Day 5 – Presentations and Closing Ceremony
The final day focused on sharing outcomes and celebrating the experience. Students presented the results of the three workshops completed during the week and screened their TikTok-style videos on microplastics.
Participation certificates were distributed to all attendees, followed by a farewell buffet and closing remarks.
